Uttar Pradesh approves 27 new nursing colleges, including one in Kushinagar
Uttar Pradesh is set to receive 27 new nursing colleges under a centrally sponsored scheme. One of these will be built in Kushinagar, following approval from the state government. The project aims to boost medical education and create jobs in the region. The Yogi government has given the green light for a Government Nursing College in Kushinagar. The facility will occupy 0.405 hectares of ceiling land next to the Autonomous State Medical College. This plot lies in Mauza Rampur, Padrauna tehsil, about 500 metres south of the Padrauna-Kubersthan main road.
Each nursing college under the scheme costs Rs 10 crore to establish. The central government will cover 60% of the expense, while the state contributes the remaining 40%. Officials expect the new institution to improve access to advanced medical training and provide employment opportunities locally.
The nursing college in Kushinagar will operate alongside the existing medical college. Its construction marks part of a broader effort to expand healthcare infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh. The project’s funding structure ensures shared financial responsibility between the Centre and the state.
