Uttar Pradesh launches 'Visit My State' to revive tourism with free perks
Uttar Pradesh has launched the 'Visit My State' campaign to boost local tourism. The initiative, announced after a high-level meeting in Lucknow, offers free museum entry for two months and discounts on state-run guest houses.
Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh called the current global challenges an 'opportunity in crisis' and urged the sector to explore fresh avenues for growth.
The campaign was introduced following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directives during a meeting at the Tourism Directorate on Wednesday. Officials discussed ways to revive tourism while ensuring efficiency in administration.
Regional officers have been instructed to minimise visits to the Directorate unless approved by senior staff. Virtual platforms will now handle most coordination and meetings to streamline operations. To attract visitors, the government is preparing experience-based tour packages for major destinations. These will include stops at cow shelters, ancient temples, and key religious sites. Additionally, heritage locations like Chunar Fort in Mirzapur and Chhatar Manzil in Lucknow are being readied for tourists. The tourism department will also push destination weddings at heritage venues. A 25 percent discount is available for guests staying at Rahi Tourist Guest Houses, managed by the state’s tourism wing.
The 'Visit My State' drive aims to revive Uttar Pradesh’s tourism by blending cultural heritage with modern travel experiences. Free museum access and discounted stays are part of the immediate incentives, while long-term plans focus on heritage conservation and specialised tour packages.
