Volksbank BRAWO Donates VW Polos to Two Local Charities

On April 14, Caritasverband Wolfsburg e.V. and Gifhorner Betreuungsverein e.V. each took delivery of a brand-new VW Polo, courtesy of Volksbank BRAWO. The vehicles will now support mobile youth welfare services in Wolfsburg and legal guardianship programs in Gifhorn, the bank announced in a press release.

Claudia Kayser, head of the Wolfsburg directorate and interim leader for Gifhorn at Volksbank BRAWO, handed over the keys to the "VRmobil" cars—funded by the net proceeds of the bank's 2025 prize-linked savings program—at Volkswagen's Autostadt in Wolfsburg. The recipients included Annika Thätz and Doaa Ali from Caritasverband Wolfsburg e.V., as well as Urte Kowalski and Maria Gebken from Gifhorner Betreuungsverein.

"An Indispensable Role in Society"

Since launching the "VRmobil" social initiative in 2007, Volksbank BRAWO and its partner institutions have provided hundreds of vehicles annually to nonprofits across Germany, using proceeds from their prize-linked savings schemes. "These organizations play an indispensable role in our society, delivering invaluable work every day," Kayser emphasized during the handover ceremony. "I want to express my heartfelt gratitude—not only to the dedicated teams on the ground but also to our customers, whose participation in prize-linked savings makes this support possible."

Annika Thätz and Doaa Ali, who work in Caritas Wolfsburg's mobile youth services, expressed their appreciation: "We're deeply grateful for this generous contribution, which recognizes our efforts and will significantly ease our daily work." Urte Kowalski and Maria Gebken of Gifhorner Betreuungsverein echoed their thanks: "This new vehicle is a game-changer for us. It allows us to respond to our clients' needs with greater flexibility and speed. We're truly thankful for this vital support, which will strengthen our local impact for years to come."

For decades, Germany's Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken cooperative banks have offered prize-linked savings accounts. With each €5 deposit, €4 is saved for the account holder, while €1 funds the lottery pool—offering cash prizes ranging from €4 to €25,000, along with chances to win additional draws. A portion of the lottery proceeds is allocated to a charitable fund, financing community projects like the VRmobil initiative.
