Weed-pulling pensioner arrested at German train station for fraud
A 68-year-old man was spotted pulling weeds at Neumünster Central Station on Monday morning. Federal police approached him for a routine check—only to discover he was wanted under an arrest warrant for fraudulently claiming benefits.
The incident unfolded on Platform 1, where the man was removing weeds between the tracks. Officers conducted a standard identity check and found he was listed as wanted by several public prosecutor’s offices.
Further checks revealed an outstanding fine he had failed to pay. As a result, he must now serve the remaining ten days of a substitute prison sentence.
The man was taken into custody after the discovery. His arrest follows a routine police procedure at the station. The outstanding sentence will now be enforced.
