Worker dies after five-meter fall from scaffolding in Hamburg

A 58-year-old man died in a workplace accident in Hamburg-Niendorf on February 10, 2026. The incident happened during construction work on a single-family home when he fell from scaffolding. The man was working at a height of around five metres when he fell. He suffered severe head injuries and died despite immediate medical intervention. Paramedics and an emergency doctor tried to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful.

The State Criminal Police Office (LKA 45) began investigating the scene shortly after the accident. The Office for Building Regulations and Construction also stepped in as part of their oversight role. Authorities have not yet determined the exact cause of the fall.

The investigation into the accident remains ongoing. Officials will examine the circumstances surrounding the fall and whether safety measures were followed. The incident has raised concerns about workplace safety on construction sites in the area.
