Xenophobic assault at Berlin's Rathaus Neukölln subway station under investigation

A 32-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and verbally abused at Rathaus Neukölln subway station in Berlin. The incident, which took place around 10:40 a.m., involved a 37-year-old suspect who reportedly used xenophobic slurs before physically attacking the victim. Police have since transferred the case to the State Protection Division for further examination. The confrontation began when the suspect deliberately rammed his shoulder into the victim’s stomach. He then struck the 32-year-old in the upper body with both hands. Witnesses reported that the attacker also hurled xenophobic insults during the altercation.

The victim chased the suspect to Boddinstraße, where he filed an official complaint with the police. When officers arrived, the 37-year-old continued to act aggressively toward the 32-year-old. Despite the assault, the victim declined medical treatment. After completing their procedures, police released the suspect. The case has now been handed over to Berlin’s State Protection Division of the criminal investigation department for deeper investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing under the State Protection Division. The victim’s decision not to seek medical attention was noted, while the suspect was released following standard police protocols. Authorities will determine whether further charges will be pursued.
