Yogi Adityanath boosts Shiksha Mitra teachers' pay to ₹18,000 monthly in Gorakhpur event
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will honour Shiksha Mitra teachers in Gorakhpur on Tuesday. The event marks a significant increase in their monthly honorarium, rising from ₹10,000 to ₹18,000. The ceremony will recognise their contributions to basic education across the state. The felicitation programme is scheduled for 11 am at the Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium. Around 1.43 lakh Shiksha Mitra, who previously earned ₹10,000 per month, will now receive ₹18,000 from April onwards. During the event, the Chief Minister will symbolically distribute cheques of the revised amount to 10 selected teachers.
Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh will also attend the ceremony. Gorakhpur’s Basic Education Officer, Dhirendra Tripathi, noted the teachers’ excitement ahead of the Chief Minister’s address. Similar events will take place simultaneously in all districts of the state.
In addition to the honouring ceremony, Adityanath will visit achievement-based stalls set up by the Education Department. He will also release the 'Arunodaya' calendar during the programme. The increased honorarium reflects the state’s recognition of Shiksha Mitra’s role in basic education. The symbolic cheques handed out in Gorakhpur will mark the start of the revised payments. The event will also showcase the Education Department’s initiatives through stalls and the launch of the new calendar.
