André Ventura unites with left-wing critics against labour reforms

Clutching a green carnation—a symbol of the emigrant community, as he explained—André Ventura found himself closer to the left in his remarks criticizing the government's proposed labor reforms. Though he did not spare the left from sharp rebukes or attacks on the Capitães de Abril (leaders of the 1974 Carnation Revolution), on this issue, the Chega leader positioned himself as a defender of workers' rights. He rejected measures he called "enablers of corruption" or any that would strip protections from employees.
