Armed bank robber locks hostages in vault before fleeing with cash
A bank in Sinzig was robbed at gunpoint three days ago. The suspect locked two people in the vault before escaping with a large sum of cash. Police are now treating the case as aggravated robbery and unlawful imprisonment. The incident began while the perpetrator was already inside the bank. He threatened a bank employee and a cash-in-transit guard with a firearm, forcing them into the vault. Witnesses described him as around 1.80 metres tall, wearing a white, net-like head covering.
After securing the hostages, the suspect fled with a container full of cash. Police arrived shortly after but believe he had already left the scene. The initial response was triggered by reports suggesting the suspect might still be inside with hostages. Investigators are now reviewing evidence and speaking to witnesses. They have asked anyone who saw suspicious activity near the bank at the time to contact authorities immediately.
The case remains under active investigation. Authorities are focusing on tracing the suspect and recovering the stolen money. Anyone with information has been urged to assist the inquiry.
