Augsburg’s Chance House to offer homeless families a fresh start in 2026
A new beacon of hope is rising on Augsburger Straße. The Chance House, a temporary shelter for up to 130 homeless people, is set to open in spring 2026. The project, led by KJF Augsburg, one of Bavaria's largest social organizations, aims to provide a peaceful environment for families to regroup and look ahead.
The Chance House, funded through the BayFHolz program, consists of 26 room modules. It is designed with sustainable materials and thoughtful architecture, blending seamlessly into its surroundings. The building's construction costs amount to approximately €7.7 million.
On Friday, September 15, 2025, a topping-out ceremony was held to mark the completion of the structure. The Chance House will provide more than just shelter. It will offer support, advice, and motivation to help residents regain their independence and move back into their own apartments.
The Chance House is set to open its doors in spring 2026, providing temporary accommodation for up to 130 people, including families and single parents. This significant project, enabled by KJF Augsburg, demonstrates the organization's commitment to supporting the homeless and vulnerable in the region.
