Azerbaijan and Goldman Sachs explore deeper economic ties in Munich talks
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev met with Jared Cohen, President of Global Affairs at Goldman Sachs, on 14 February 2026. The discussions took place in Munich during the annual Security Conference. Both sides focused on deepening ties between the financial giant and Azerbaijan’s economy. The meeting reviewed the long-standing partnership between Azerbaijan and Goldman Sachs, which began in 2010. Particular attention was given to the collaboration with the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ). The talks also explored new ways to expand cooperation across different sectors of the country’s economy.
Goldman Sachs, founded in 1869 and headquartered in New York, is one of the world’s largest financial institutions. It operates in investment and consumer banking, securities, and asset management. With around $2.8 trillion in assets under management across over 40 countries, the firm plays a major role in global finance. The discussions covered ongoing projects as well as potential future partnerships. Both parties expressed interest in strengthening economic and financial ties moving forward.
The meeting highlighted the successful track record of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Goldman Sachs. Further talks are expected to build on this relationship. The focus remains on expanding investment and financial opportunities in the coming years.
