Malaysia expands Jualan Rahmah Madani to ease cost-of-living pressures nationwide

The government has announced plans to expand the Jualan Rahmah Madani initiative across Malaysia. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim revealed the move during a press conference addressing the global supply crisis. The scheme aims to provide cheaper essential goods and ease cost-of-living pressures for households nationwide. In 2023, over 25,000 Jualan Rahmah events took place, covering every state constituency. The programme offers goods at discounts of up to 30%, with most items priced 5% to 15% below market rates.

By 2026, the government wants to increase this to 30,000 weekly events. Each constituency will host them regularly, including selected rural and village areas beyond major cities.

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs leads the initiative. Small businesses will also be encouraged to join, ensuring wider participation and benefits. The government will keep reviewing further cost-relief measures through ongoing Cabinet and economic discussions. The expansion will make discounted essentials more accessible across the country. Weekly events in every constituency are set to begin soon, with rural communities included. Officials will monitor progress and adjust policies as needed to support affordability.
