Bad Kissingen welcomes new district administrator Mario Götz after 24 years
A new political term has begun in Bad Kissingen as Mario Götz was sworn in as district administrator. The ceremony also welcomed 30 newly elected district councillors, reshaping the local government. Dr. Susanne Weizendörfer, president of the Government of Lower Franconia, called it a historic moment for the region.
The swearing-in marked the end of Thomas Bold’s 24-year tenure and the start of Götz’s leadership. In his inaugural speech, Götz expressed both joy and a strong sense of responsibility. He promised to serve as a district administrator for everyone, emphasising listening, transparency, and forward-thinking policies.
Götz outlined key priorities for the district’s future. These include boosting economic growth, ensuring reliable healthcare, and modernising infrastructure. He also highlighted sustainable mobility, family support, volunteer work, and strengthening regional structures. Social cohesion and collective effort were central themes in his address. The ceremony saw the appointment of three deputy district administrators. Matthias Klement received overwhelming support, securing 51 out of 52 valid votes. Roland Limpert and Brigitte Meyerdierks were also named to the roles, completing the new leadership team.
With Götz at the helm and a reshaped district council, Bad Kissingen enters a new phase of local governance. The administration’s focus on economic stability, healthcare, and community engagement will guide its work in the coming years. The transition follows decades of leadership under Bold, setting a fresh direction for the district.
