Bad Krozingen to vote on nuclear safety resolution for Swiss plants

The town council of Bad Krozingen will discuss a resolution from the Trinational Nuclear Protection Association on 12 May 2026. Bad Krozingen is an official member of TRAS, and the local administration has recommended adopting the document. Harald Lotis, mayor of Bahlingen am Kaiserstuhl and a TRAS board representative, will present the proposal to the council. The resolution demands a legally binding end to the extended operation of Swiss nuclear power plants. It also pushes for greater use of renewable energy and stronger cross-border coordination on energy supply.

Additionally, the text calls for better disaster preparedness and more frequent public updates. It highlights the need to respect international environmental standards and participation rights. The council will review the resolution during its upcoming meeting. If approved, Bad Krozingen would formally endorse the measures proposed by TRAS. The resolution aims to enhance nuclear safety and energy cooperation across borders.
