Baden-Württemberg trains 232 new judicial assistants amid fierce competition

The Baden-Württemberg justice system has welcomed 232 new trainees for the judicial administration assistant program in 2025. The successful applicants are now embarking on a three-year training course that prepares them for a career in the justice sector. The training is conducted at 22 locations across the state, ensuring a wide reach and accessibility for aspiring justice professionals. Applicants had the opportunity to apply for the program starting in 2026 at the Higher Regional Courts of Karlsruhe and Stuttgart. The competition was fierce, with 2,284 applications received for the 232 available positions. In the district of the Higher Regional Court of Karlsruhe, 90 out of 726 applicants were hired, while in Stuttgart, 142 out of 1,558 applicants were successful. The number of applicants per higher judicial authority varied, but specific details were not provided. Trainees can expect a monthly training allowance of €1,236.82 gross in the first year, increasing to €1,290.96 gross in the second year, and €1,340.61 gross in the third year. Upon completion of the three-year training, judicial administration assistants are employed in the public service of the state and remunerated according to the collective wage agreement for public service (TV-L). The Baden-Württemberg justice system's investment in training the next generation of justice professionals is evident in the high number of applicants and the comprehensive training program. With 232 new trainees, the system continues to grow and strengthen its workforce, ensuring the smooth operation of the justice system in the state.
