Bar brawl in Charlottenburg leaves two injured after violent assault

Incident No. 0476

In the early hours of last night, police arrested a man in Charlottenburg. At around 12:50 a.m., the 33-year-old allegedly entered a bar on Otto-Suhr-Allee and immediately began insulting patrons, sparking an altercation with a 23-year-old guest. According to reports, the aggressor then struck his opponent across the face with an open hand. When several patrons attempted to restrain the attacker, he reportedly pulled out a utility knife. The guests eventually managed to overpower the suspect and pin him to the ground. During the struggle, a 37-year-old man suffered a deep laceration running along his forearm, while a 40-year-old sustained a superficial cut to the palm of his hand.

Paramedics rushed the 37-year-old to a hospital for treatment, though doctors confirmed his injuries were not life-threatening. The 23- and 40-year-old men declined medical attention. When responding officers arrived to arrest the attacker, he resisted and verbally abused a police officer. The 33-year-old was taken into police custody, where he underwent fingerprinting and a blood test before being released.

He now faces charges of simple and aggravated assault, resisting law enforcement, and insulting an officer. The investigation remains ongoing.
