Belarus recorded 54,257 births in 2025, continuing a downward trend. The figure is lower than in 2024, when 58,938 children were born. The numbers also fall well short of 2019, which saw over 87,000 newborns registered nationwide. Among the regions, Brest Oblast reported the highest number of births, with 9,285. Minsk Oblast followed closely behind, registering 9,139 newborns. The capital, Minsk, had the largest share of any single city, with 9,543 births.
Vitebsk Oblast recorded the fewest births, totaling 5,773. The figures highlight a steady decline in birth rates across the country over recent years.
The latest data confirms a shrinking number of newborns compared to previous years. With 54,257 births in 2025, the country’s birth rate remains significantly lower than in 2019. Regional differences persist, but the overall trend points to fewer children being born each year.
