Belarusian Dictator Shows Shocking Photo of Dead Calves, Defends Outburst

On Sunday, April 26, Alexander Lukashenko made a working visit to the Petrikov district, where he addressed the issue of cattle mortality and ordered officials to show him photographs of dead calves in the Rogachev district.

The mass deaths of calves were uncovered by the State Control Committee, which forwarded case materials to Lukashenko, according to the state news agency BelTA. The dictator drew the attention of Gomel Regional Executive Committee head Ivan Krupko to the issue and displayed photos taken by inspectors.

"I saw a photo from Gerasimov," Lukashenko said, referring to Vasily Gerasimov, head of the State Control Committee. "A whole hectare of land, and dead calves just lying there on the surface."

Gerasimov quickly interjected that the farm managers responsible for the deaths were already in pretrial detention.

"Good, they belong in detention," Lukashenko responded. "This is an outrage. I wanted to show journalists just one photo so they'd understand: I'm not furious because I'm some hot-tempered tyrant—I want them to see this. They'll lose their minds, especially the city folk."
