Berlin and Brandenburg see real wages rise for second straight year
Berlin (dpa/bb) – Employees in Berlin and Brandenburg saw their paychecks stretch further last year as wages rose more sharply than prices. However, the trend varied significantly across sectors, according to figures released by the Berlin-Brandenburg Statistical Office.
Data shows that real wages—earnings adjusted for inflation—increased by 2.9% in Berlin and 1.8% in Brandenburg. This marks the second consecutive year of growth in both states after two years of stagnation in Berlin and three in Brandenburg. In 2022, real wages had sharply declined following the outbreak of war in Ukraine.
