Berlin burglary spree unravels after stolen headphones lead police to suspects
A series of arrests followed a break-in at a Kreuzberg apartment earlier this month. The incident began on May 15, 2026, when tenants reported stolen headphones. Police later traced the missing items to a hotel in Kaulsdorf, leading to multiple detentions.
The case started when residents in Kreuzberg discovered their apartment had been burgled. The only item missing was a pair of headphones. Detectives tracked the stolen property to a hotel in Kaulsdorf, where they found more than just the headphones.
A search of the hotel room uncovered burglary tools and other suspected stolen goods. Two men, aged 28 and 35, were seen with the headphones and arrested on the spot. Both remain in police custody. Further investigation led officers to a nearby drain, where they recovered the headphones’ storage case. Shortly after, two more men—aged 27 and 29—were detained near a snack bar on Ludwigsluster Straße. These suspects were later released following processing. The stolen items found in Kaulsdorf matched reports from a separate residential burglary just two days earlier.
Police continue to investigate the string of thefts and arrests. The 28- and 35-year-old suspects remain in custody, while the other two men have been released. Authorities are examining the recovered items to determine their connection to other unsolved cases.
