Berlin café robbery turns chaotic as victim fights back and faces arrest
A robbery attempt in Berlin’s Neukölln district ended with one suspect arrested and another still at large. The incident began at a café on Pannierstraße, where two men targeted a 32-year-old before fleeing toward Ossastraße. The attack started when the two men approached the victim at the café and sprayed him with pepper spray. One of the suspects then grabbed the 32-year-old’s wallet. Despite the assault, the victim fought back, chasing one of the robbers and striking him multiple times with a piece of wood.
The struggle ended when police arrived and took both the victim and the detained suspect into custody. The 20-year-old suspect received outpatient treatment for eye irritation caused by the pepper spray. Meanwhile, the second alleged robber escaped and remains unidentified. Following the incident, the 32-year-old was remanded into custody. Authorities confirmed he faces charges of aggravated assault and is also wanted under an outstanding arrest warrant.
The detained suspect is now in police custody, while the second robber is still being sought. The victim’s actions led to his own arrest, with charges filed against him. Investigations into the robbery and assault are ongoing.
