Berlin's Red Town Hall opens for a civic celebration on June 6
Berlin (dpa/bb) – Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) is inviting residents to an open day at the Red Town Hall on June 6. From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the event will be held under the motto "Our City. Our Voice. Our Democracy," according to the Senate Chancellery.
During tours of the historic 150-year-old Red Town Hall, visitors will gain insights into the work of the state government. Among the highlights are Mayor Wegner's office and the Senate meeting room, where the city's executive regularly convenes.
Panel Discussions with Senate Members
The program also includes multiple panel discussions featuring the Governing Mayor, Economics Senator Franziska Giffey, and Finance Senator Stefan Evers. For the first time, there will be a children's press conference with the Governing Mayor.
A key attraction, per the Senate Chancellery, will be the Olympic section in the town hall's arcaded courtyard. Guests can learn about Berlin's bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Food, drinks, and live music will also be available.
This marks the second time Wegner has hosted an open day at the Red Town Hall. Last June's event drew around 8,300 visitors.
