Biysk officially adds Voskresenskaya and Spasskaya streets to its directory
Biysk’s City Duma has officially approved two new streets for the city’s register. Voskresenskaya and Spasskaya are now part of Biysk’s directory. Both streets are situated in Odintsovka, a village within the city’s boundaries. The new streets are located in an area with a steep riverbank near the confluence of the Biya and Katun rivers. This spot is also home to the Church of Saint Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky. The project to build the church began in 1991 under Eduard Geidek, then director general of the Sibpribormash production association.
Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia blessed the decision to construct the church. The site’s historical and geographical significance has now been further recognised with the addition of the two streets. Voskresenskaya and Spasskaya streets are now officially recorded in Biysk. The move highlights the area’s importance, marked by its river location and the presence of the church. The new names reflect the village’s growing integration into the city’s structure.
