The image shows a bustling Christmas market in the middle of a city at night. We can see a group of people standing on the ground, some people sitting on chairs, and a person holding a child. The market is decorated with festive lights, poles, plants, trees, and buildings with windows. The sky is cloudy, adding to the atmosphere of the scene.

Braunschweig adjusts services and markets for Ascension Day week

Several public services and markets in Braunschweig will face changes this week due to Ascension Day. While some events will run as planned, others will close or adjust their schedules. Residents should check ahead for availability on Wednesday, May 13, and Friday, May 15 in particular. On Wednesday, May 13, the Altstadtmarkt will go ahead as normal. The Weststadt municipal market will also open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Later that day, the Stadtpark market and Magnikirchplatz market will operate from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The following day, Thursday, May 14, all weekly markets in Braunschweig will be cancelled. This includes the Lehndorf municipal market, which will not take place. On Friday, May 15, multiple services will be affected. The Department of Children, Youth, and Family will offer limited access, with its Campestraße 7 office fully closed. Childcare placement services will also shut down for the day. Additionally, guardianship, curatorship, and support services will be unavailable, along with youth promotion divisions—covering administration, child and youth services, and youth social work. The Heidberg branch of the city library will remain closed as well.

Residents relying on these services or planning market visits should note the altered timetables. The disruptions on May 14 and 15 follow the public holiday, with some operations resuming their usual schedules afterward.
