Braunschweig: Longtime CDA Deputy Chair Christine Piefke Dies After Serious Illness

Braunschweig mourns Christine Piefke, a tireless advocate for community and change

Christine Piefke, the longtime deputy chair of the Braunschweig district branch of the CDA (Christian Democratic Employees' Association) and former CDU city councilor, passed away last week following a serious illness, the CDA district association announced in a press statement.

Piefke dedicated many years of voluntary service to both the CDA's Braunschweig district and state associations. Within the state executive board of the CDA in Braunschweig, she held positions including treasurer. Previously, she served as a member of the CDU parliamentary group on Braunschweig's city council and also volunteered with ambet e.V. Braunschweig, an organization providing grocery shopping assistance.

Advocacy for Children's Hospice

In 2015, Piefke organized a sponsorship program for refugees through the CDA in Braunschweig. Most recently, she passionately championed support for seriously ill children, working with the CDA to aid Löwenherz e.V., a children's hospice in Braunschweig.

Thorsten Wendt, chair of the CDA's Braunschweig district branch, stated: "Her loss deeply saddens us. Our thoughts are with her family. She will be greatly missed, and we will honor her memory."
