Worker killed after car crashes into Brandenburg construction zone on A13

Potsdam (dpa/bb) – A man was killed in a serious traffic accident on the A13 motorway between Baruth and Staakow in the Dahme-Spreewald district. According to police, the victim was conducting measurement work at a construction site on the Dresden-bound carriageway in the early afternoon when a vehicle entered the construction zone and struck him, causing fatal injuries. Regional broadcaster RBB had previously reported the incident.

Road resurfacing work is currently underway in the area where the accident occurred. A police spokesperson for the Süd precinct stated in the evening that the driver had entered the closed-off section when the collision happened. The reason the motorist was in the restricted area remains unclear. Accident investigators and the occupational safety authority have been called in to examine the case.

Police confirmed that traffic was able to pass the accident site. Further details about the circumstances and cause of the crash are not yet known.
