Buryatia's Batomunkuev Appointed Acting First Deputy Chairman
Buyanato Batomunkuev has been appointed acting first deputy chairman of the Transbaikal Territory Government. Born in 1983, he has climbed the ranks of regional politics, most recently serving as deputy chairman since 2019.
Batomunkuev's journey began in his native village of Urdo-Aga. After graduating from Tomsk State University in 2005, he started his career in the Aginsky Buryat District Administration's Strategic Planning Division. He rose through the ranks, holding various positions in the Department of State Property and Land Relations until 2016.
He then served as deputy head and later head of the Aginskoye Urban Okrug municipal district until 2019. Since then, he has been deputy chairman of the Transbaikal Territory Government, overseeing economic policy. Now, he replaces Andrei Kefer in the role of acting first deputy chairman.
Batomunkuev's appointment signals a continuation of his upward trajectory in regional politics. With his extensive experience in economic policy and administration, he is expected to make a significant impact in his new role.
