Choice Hotels and Faranda Partner to Expand Across Northern Spain

Choice Hotels EMEA and Faranda Hotels & Resorts have signed a long-term strategic agreement to expand their presence in Spain. The deal will add eight new properties, totaling over 700 rooms, to Choice Hotels’ Spanish portfolio. Six of these hotels are already open for bookings, including Faranda’s flagship site in A Coruña. The new hotels will operate under the Ascend Hotel Collection brand. They are spread across northern Spain, in key cities such as A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, Gijón, and Santander. Two additional properties are set to open in summer 2025 following full refurbishment.

Faranda Hotels & Resorts will manage the new locations in partnership with Choice Hotels. The collaboration allows Faranda to tap into Choice’s franchise network and training resources. All eight hotels will also join the Choice Privileges rewards programme, giving members access to earn and redeem points across 46 countries. David Beers, CEO of Choice Hotels EMEA, highlighted Spain as a crucial market for the company. He noted that the agreement would significantly grow the Ascend Hotel Collection in the region. Carlos Fernández, Chief Commercial Officer of Faranda Hotels & Resorts, described the partnership as a natural progression to strengthen ties between the two firms.

The expanded portfolio will bring more than 700 rooms under the Ascend Hotel Collection brand. Guests can now book stays in six newly opened hotels, with two more due to launch next year. The deal also extends rewards programme benefits to millions of Choice Privileges members.
