Convicted Official Khamenova Attends Feast Despite Deferred Sentence
Bakytgul Khamenova, convicted of corruption, has been granted a three-year deferment of her seven-year prison sentence due to having a young child. Despite this, she recently attended a traditional feast in Atyrau with permission from the probation service.
The court upheld the original verdict against Khamenova in February 2023, dismissing her appeal. However, she is allowed to participate in events like traditional feasts, as long as she has permission from her probation officer. Khamenova's probation supervision is handled by local judicial or correctional authorities, who monitor her behavior and ensure she complies with the conditions of her deferment.
Although Khamenova is under probation supervision, she was permitted to attend the feast in Atyrau. This shows that while her sentence is deferred, she must still adhere to the rules set by the probation service.
