Drunken passenger assaults police after fare evasion on German train
On Sunday, February 15, 2026, a passenger boarded an Intercity Express train from Berlin to Stendal without a valid ticket. During a ticket inspection, the German man allegedly behaved aggressively toward the conductor, who then requested assistance from the Federal Police to enforce the passenger's removal from the train.
When the train arrived at Stendal Central Station at 10:25 p.m., the rail employee directed the responding officers to the man in question, whom they found asleep in a seating area. Fellow passengers in the vicinity confirmed the conductor's account when questioned.
The suspect was awakened, informed of the allegations, advised of his rights, and notified of the consequences. Instead of complying with instructions, he attempted to evade removal and ultimately resisted so forcefully that—after reportedly trying to strike an officer—the 28-year-old had to be restrained and escorted from the train to the Federal Police station at Stendal Central Station.
There, officers conducted a search and definitively established his identity. He was formally reported for insult, coercion, trespassing, fare evasion, assault on law enforcement officers, and resisting arrest. After he calmed down, he was released from police custody.
