Ekaterinburg district head steps down amid sanitation concerns

Roman Krakovenko is leaving his role as head of Ekaterinburg’s Ordzhonikidzevsky District today. City officials have chosen not to extend his contract after nearly six years in the position. The decision follows concerns over sanitation standards in the area. Krakovenko first took charge of the district in November 2018. Before that, he worked as chief of Ekaterinburg’s Police Precinct No. 8. His background in law enforcement shaped his approach to local governance.

The city’s administration cited persistent issues with cleanliness as the reason for his departure. Officials did not provide further details on specific failures. Today marks his final day in office after the contract non-renewal was confirmed.

The district will now need a new leader to address ongoing sanitation problems. Krakovenko’s exit ends a chapter that began with his police career and transitioned into public administration. His replacement has not yet been named.
