Nizhny Novgorod boosts local businesses with 235 free trade fairs in 2024

The Nizhny Novgorod region is hosting a series of fairs to support local businesses and self-employed workers. Since the start of this year, 209 events have already taken place, with 26 more planned. These fairs offer residents the chance to buy food, handicrafts, and traditional folk art while giving entrepreneurs free trading spaces. The initiative is part of the national project Effective and Competitive Economy, which focuses on growing small and medium-sized businesses. It also aims to boost investment and promote low-carbon development across the region.

Thirteen *Buy Nizhny Novgorod* fairs will run in 10 different municipalities. The busiest months will be October, with the most events scheduled in the Sechenovsky and Bolsheboldin districts. Entrepreneurs interested in a free trading spot must contact their local district administration. Additional support for businesses is available through the *My Business* centre, which operates a hotline at 8 (800) 301-29-94. Full schedules and contact details for the fairs can be found on the regional Ministry of Industry’s website.

The fairs provide a direct way for local producers to sell their goods without extra costs. With more events planned, both shoppers and small businesses will have further opportunities to connect. The project aligns with broader efforts to strengthen the region’s economy and productivity.
