Endingen am Kaiserstuhl gears up for pivotal mayoral election in 2026
Endingen am Kaiserstuhl is preparing to elect a new mayor in late 2026. The vote will take place on Sunday, November 8, with a possible runoff scheduled for November 29. The process follows the end of Tobias Metz’s term as mayor on January 31, 2027. The first step in the election process begins on Tuesday, May 20, 2026, when the town council meets to elect the municipal electoral committee. Clemens Sexauer, the first deputy mayor, has been proposed to lead the committee, with Monika Bohn suggested as deputy chair.
The official job posting for the mayoral position will appear on Friday, July 24, 2026. Candidates will have until 6:00 PM on Monday, October 12, to submit their applications. A public presentation of the candidates is then planned for Monday, October 26, at 7:00 PM in the evening.
If no candidate secures an absolute majority in the first round, a runoff election will be held on Sunday, November 29. The deadline for runoff applications is set for 6:00 PM on Wednesday, November 11. The election will determine who replaces Tobias Metz, whose term concludes in early 2027. Residents will have the chance to meet the candidates in late October before casting their votes in November. The results will shape the town’s leadership for the coming years.
