Failed Break-In at Stetten Postal Centre Sparks Security Concerns

An attempted break-in at a postal sorting centre in Stetten, Lörrach, took place on Thursday, March 19, 2026. The incident occurred between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m., when unknown attackers tried to force their way inside. Police confirmed the assailants failed to enter the building.

The perpetrators targeted a delivery door but could not break through. Their attempt caused roughly €1,000 worth of damage to the structure. Authorities are now investigating the case.

This latest incident follows a pattern of similar attacks over the past two years. From March 2024 to March 2026, police recorded around 15 violent attempts at postal facilities across Germany. Most of these—seven in total—happened in North Rhine-Westphalia, particularly at sorting centres in Cologne and Düsseldorf.

The failed break-in adds to a growing list of security concerns at postal sites. While no entry was gained this time, the repeated attempts suggest an ongoing risk. Police continue to monitor the situation and assess potential links between the cases.
