Young Europeans march 4 days for unity, diversity, and dialogue
A four-day march for European unity has begun in Halle. Organised by the European Youth Education Center Magdeburg (EJBM), GO4EUROPE, and Europe Direct Halle, the event kicked off on Sunday, May 1, at 10 a.m. in Halle’s market square. The initiative brings together 20 young people from nine nations to promote pluralism and community spirit. The trek, named GO4EUROPE, follows a ‘hop-on, hop-off’ approach. This means anyone can join the walk for a few kilometres or simply stop to discuss Europe’s future. Participants are making their way to Magdeburg, the state capital, over four days.
Halle’s Lord Mayor, Dr. Alexander Vogt, publicly supported the group’s efforts. The march will conclude at the European Youth Education Center in Magdeburg on Wednesday, May 13, at 3 p.m. A closing event with a panel discussion, live music, and a communal barbecue will mark the end of the journey.
The march aims to create a visible statement about diversity and togetherness. With an open invitation to all, the organisers hope to encourage broader conversations about Europe’s future. The final gathering in Magdeburg will provide a space for reflection and celebration.
