Georgia Launches C5 Visa to Attract Digital Nomads for Year-Long Stays
Georgia Introduces New C5 Temporary Visa for "Digital Nomads" with 12-Month Validity
Georgia's parliament has approved amendments introducing a new C5 temporary visa category for "digital nomads"—foreign nationals who work remotely for companies based abroad, NewsGeorgia reports. The new visa will be valid for 12 months, the outlet specifies.
Under the updated Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons, the C5 category applies to individuals entering the country for tourism while employed remotely by a company outside Georgia. The visa also extends to the applicant's spouse and minor children. Authorities may deny the visa based on Georgia's immigration policy, with no right to appeal the decision.
Processing fees for the C5 visa range from $20 to $500. Eligibility is limited to citizens of "safe countries," according to the publication.
Proponents of the initiative from the ruling Georgian Dream party noted that similar visa categories already exist in many countries worldwide. The legal update is expected to attract more high-earning professionals to Georgia, the report adds.
Digital nomads—individuals who work remotely using digital technologies while traveling between countries—numbered an estimated 40 million globally as of early 2025, per data from DemandSage.
