German-French school exchange celebrates 30 years of cultural ties
A long-standing school exchange between Germany and France has reached a milestone. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the partnership between Gymnasium am Deutenberg and Collège du Sacré-Cœur in Versailles. A group of 24 French students has just arrived for a week-long stay in Germany as part of the celebrations. The visit began on March 19 and will run until March 26. The theme for this year's exchange is Times Past – Perspectives for the Future. During their stay, the French students are attending classes with their German hosts, exploring museums, and taking part in a creative workshop. An excursion to Stuttgart is also planned.
On arrival, the group was welcomed by Joachim Wörle, head of the city's central administration and personnel department. He spoke on behalf of Lord Mayor Jürgen Roth, extending a warm greeting to the visitors. The exchange will continue in May, when 24 students from Gymnasium am Deutenberg travel to Versailles. Their return visit is scheduled from May 6 to 13, mirroring the current trip in both duration and size. Each year, the same number of German and French students take part in the programme.
The exchange has now run for three decades, fostering ties between the two schools. Both the current visit and the upcoming return trip will maintain the tradition of cultural and educational collaboration. The programme remains a key opportunity for students to experience daily life in another country.
