German teacher faces trial for distributing child pornography on darknet
A 45-year-old man from Oldenburg is standing trial for distributing child pornography videos via a darknet platform in 2022. The case involves serious allegations, including the upload of videos depicting extreme sexual violence against children. Until the investigation began, the defendant worked as a teacher at a secondary school.
The Hanover Public Prosecutor’s Office, which specialises in combating child pornography, is leading the case. Authorities accuse the man of uploading child pornography videos on at least three occasions to a platform used for exchanging such material. Prosecutors have charged him with the organised dissemination of child and youth pornographic content.
During a raid in May, investigators seized 946 child pornography files from multiple laptops. The defendant’s lawyer has announced two alibi witnesses who claim he was not at home when the alleged offences took place. The court has adjourned the proceedings to verify the alibi and examine the origin of the seized files. The trial will resume once further investigations are complete.
The case centres on the distribution of explicit material, including videos showing extreme violence against children. The outcome of the trial depends on the verification of the defendant’s alibi and the forensic analysis of the seized files. Proceedings will continue after additional evidence is reviewed.
