Gütersloh’s 2025 election reshapes city council with CDU leading
Gütersloh's municipal election saw a voter turnout of 47.11%, slightly lower than the 2020 level. The new city council, comprising 64 members, will convene on November 14 to form committees. The strongest factions are the CDU with 21 seats and the SPD with 14 seats.
The election results show a diverse representation. Alliance 90/The Greens secured 10 seats, while the AfD won 9 seats. The FDP will have 2 members in the council. Citizens for Gütersloh (BfGT) and The Left will each have 4 seats.
The Integration Council election, with a turnout of 13.9%, allocated seats to various community lists and candidates. The election committee will meet on September 17 to officially confirm the results.
A total of 37,201 valid votes were cast in the 2025 municipal election. The newly elected council will now work towards representing and serving the citizens of Gütersloh.
