Halle (Saale) Celebrates Europe Day with Flag Ceremony and Panel Discussion
City of Halle (Saale) Invites Residents to European Reception on May 9
To mark Europe Day, the city of Halle (Saale) has extended an invitation to a "European Reception" on Saturday, May 9, at 6:00 PM in the Stadthaus (City Hall). Following welcoming remarks by Lord Mayor Dr. Alexander Vogt, the event will begin with the raising of EU flags in front of the building. Among those taking part in the ceremony will be Rainer Robra, Minister for European Affairs of Saxony-Anhalt, as well as Dr. Uta Bretschneider and Holger Lemme, Program Director and Commercial Managing Director of the Future Center for German Unity and European Transformation (gGmbH).
In the Stadthaus's Grand Hall, Lord Mayor Dr. Vogt and Dr. Uta Bretschneider will deliver opening addresses. Dr. Vogt will also join a panel discussion titled "Together in Europe: Cooperation, Transformation, and Opportunities." The panel will feature: - Rainer Robra, State Minister and Head of the State Chancellery of Saxony-Anhalt, as well as Minister for European Affairs; - Florence Bruneau-Ludwig, Chair of the German-French Society Halle e.V.; - Holger Lemme, Managing Director of the Future Center for German Unity and European Transformation.
At the close of the discussion, 20 young participants from "Europe Direct Halle", representing nine different nations, will be sent off on their "Go for Europe" journey from Halle to Magdeburg.
This inaugural European Reception is part of the 2026 European Weeks organized by the State Chancellery of Saxony-Anhalt. The event is supported by the state government, the Future Center for German Unity and European Transformation, and the European Union Halle-Saalekreis e.V.
