Suspect in Custody Following Sexual Offense in Hamburg - Hamburg police arrest suspect in Vierbergen Park sexual assault case
A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault in Hamburg-Horn. The attack took place on March 8, when a 29-year-old woman was allegedly followed and assaulted in Vierbergen Park. Police confirmed the suspect was remanded in pretrial detention after his arrest on Thursday morning.
The incident began near Legienstraße subway station. Investigators believe the suspect trailed the woman through Vierbergen Park before attacking her. During the assault, the victim fought back, forcing the man to flee in an unknown direction.
Detectives from the specialised sexual offences unit conducted extensive inquiries to identify the suspect. Though details of his movements after the attack remain unclear, officers from the Wandsbek precinct—assisted by uniformed colleagues—arrested him early on Thursday.
The suspect now faces pretrial detention while the investigation continues. Authorities have not released further information about the evidence used to track him. The case remains under active review by Hamburg police.
