Heitersheim's €10,000 wine festival grant hangs in the balance ahead of council vote
Heitersheim’s town council will decide on a €10,000 grant for the upcoming VINOVUM Wine Festival. The event, now in its second year, is set for June 26–27, 2026. Organisers argue that without financial support, covering costs would be extremely difficult.
The festival’s first edition in 2025 received the same €10,000 subsidy from the town. This year, the grant has been provisionally included in the 2026 budget, but the final approval depends on the council’s vote.
Before the public meeting on Monday, May 12, 2026, organisers will present a closed briefing. They will outline the 2025 financial results and the budget projections for the 2026 event. The town’s administration supports the funding, citing benefits for local culture and the regional wine industry. However, the council faces pressure due to Heitersheim’s tight budget. Members are being urged to carefully consider whether the subsidy is sustainable given current financial constraints.
If approved, the grant will help secure the festival’s future. The organisers maintain that the event cannot break even without public funding. The council’s decision will determine whether the 2026 edition goes ahead as planned.
