Deadly crash on L 131 leaves two dead after van hits trees and overturns
Two men died in a serious road crash on the L 131 between Westeresch and Jeersdorf early this morning. The accident involved a Renault van that left the road and struck several trees before overturning in a nearby field. Emergency services were called to the scene immediately.
A 54-year-old man was driving the van with three passengers when he lost control. The vehicle veered off the road, hit multiple trees, and rolled over into an adjacent field. Two passengers—a 20-year-old and a 46-year-old—died at the scene from severe injuries.
The driver and a 26-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals. Police closed the L 131 in both directions while investigators and an accident reconstruction specialist examined the site. The road remained fully shut until around 11:30 AM. Authorities estimated the damage to the van at approximately €30,000.
The crash resulted in two fatalities and two hospitalisations. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing. The road has since reopened, but the incident has left the local community in shock.
