Helmstedt Hospital Hosts Organ Donation Awareness Event on June 4

A new stop on the northern German Camper Tour will bring organ donation awareness to Helios St. Marienberg Hospital in Helmstedt. The event, open to all and free of charge, aims to provide clear information and encourage public discussion on the topic. The event will take place on June 4, from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM, in the hospital’s main entrance area. Experts from the German Foundation for Organ Transplantation (DSO) and the German Society for Tissue Transplantation (DGFG) will be available to answer questions.

Dr. Frank Logemann, chair of the Network of Transplant Coordinators (North Region), sees the tour as a way to make organ donation more visible. He hopes to engage people in an approachable setting and spark wider public interest. Jörg Wiszinski, a heart transplant recipient, will also speak at the event. His personal experience will highlight the real-life impact of organ donation.

The Camper Tour seeks to improve public understanding of organ donation through direct engagement. With expert advice and firsthand accounts, the event offers a chance for informed discussion. Organisers stress the need for greater transparency to help people make conscious decisions about donation.
