Gifhorn cracks down on Ascension Day with alcohol and glass bans

Gifhorn has introduced strict rules for Ascension Day celebrations at Schlosswiesen. From midnight on May 14, a ban on glass bottles and strong alcohol will take effect. Authorities have warned of firm enforcement against anyone breaking the regulations.

The restrictions begin at 12:00 AM on May 14 and last until 7:00 AM the following day. During this period, visitors cannot bring or drink spirits in the area. Glass bottles of any kind will also be forbidden.

Security staff will check bags at entry points. Anyone carrying banned items will be turned away. The Gifhorn Police Department has confirmed that violations will face immediate consequences.

The measures aim to maintain safety during the public holiday. Glass containers and high-proof alcohol will remain prohibited throughout the event. Police will monitor compliance and take action where necessary.
