On Tuesday, March 24, at around 11 a.m., a collision followed by a hit-and-run occurred on Hubertusstraße near Reststrauch. A 75-year-old motorist was driving a car with a trailer from Hubertusstraße toward Geistenbecker Ring when a truck was positioned alongside him in the right-turn lane. When the traffic light turned green, both vehicles moved forward.
According to the 75-year-old, as he pulled out, the truck's cargo area sideswiped the right side of his trailer, causing damage. The driver stopped, but the truck continued toward Reststrauch without halting.
Investigators believe the truck was a blue car transporter, possibly bearing license plates from Bergheim.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about the fleeing driver to come forward.
