German driver faces hefty fines after speeding at 105 km/h in 50 zone
Speeding Driver Caught at 105 km/h in 50 Zone in Kiel
On Thursday, February 19, 2026, at around 5:45 p.m., police officers in Kiel detected a vehicle traveling at an excessively high speed within city limits.
A Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet was recorded driving at 105 km/h in a 50 km/h zone by officers from the Neumünster Traffic Surveillance Unit using a video patrol car. The pursuit began on Skandinaviendamm in Kiel, where officers were able to verify the speed over a distance of more than 200 meters.
The driver, a 21-year-old man still in his probationary period, had already had this period extended due to a prior traffic offense. At the scene, he showed little remorse and was uncooperative with the officers.
He now faces a fine of €1,120, two points on his driving record, and a two-month driving ban. Further measures are being reviewed by the relevant licensing authority.
Police have once again emphasized that excessive speed remains one of the leading causes of accidents and poses a significant risk, particularly in urban areas.
