Knife Attack in Frechen Leaves Man Injured as Police Hunt Suspect

Victim Injured with Knife
Police in the Rhein-Erft district are searching for a man approximately 30 to 40 years old, around 185 centimeters tall, with dark skin. The unknown suspect, weighing roughly 95 kilograms, has a broad face, short hair, and was wearing a dark jacket and dark pants. He is alleged to have injured a 47-year-old man with a knife in Frechen on Sunday evening (March 22).
Detectives from Criminal Investigation Unit 11 have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses. Tips can be reported by phone at 02271 81-0.
According to initial reports, the victim was walking along Burgstraße from the city center toward Kapfenberger Straße when he encountered the suspect around 11:30 p.m. The assailant reportedly brandished a knife, prompting the 47-year-old to flee along Burgstraße toward the sports field before turning right toward the municipal shelter. The attacker pursued him and stabbed him before fleeing in the opposite direction. The injured victim then sought help from security staff at the shelter, who alerted emergency services and the police.
