Komi Opera Director Alexei Sadovsky Resigns Mid-Performance at Festival
He announced his decision to the company on April 28 during a performance of The Queen of Spades. The theatre is currently hosting the international festival Syktyvkar Spring.
Komiinform has requested an official statement from the Ministry of Culture and Archives of the Republic of Komi.
Sadovsky had held the position for two years. He was appointed in May 2024 following the controversial dismissal of Dmitry Stepanov, who had led the theatre for eight years.
His three-year contract was set to expire in May 2027. Yesterday, the director bid farewell to the staff.
