Krasnodar Krai honours cultural legends with decades of dedication to the arts
Krasnodar Krai has marked Culture Workers' Day with a special ceremony honouring long-serving professionals. Viktoria Lapina, the regional minister, attended the event at the Krasnodar State Institute of Culture on March 25. She recognised two distinguished figures for their decades of work in theatre and ballet.
The region also continues to expand its cultural workforce through the *Zemsky Culture Worker* initiative. This programme has already created jobs for 33 specialists, with plans to hire 100 more young professionals in the coming year.
During the ceremony, Lapina presented certificates of honour and letters of gratitude to leading employees of the institute. Among those recognised were Anatoly Gorbul and Irina Goncharova. Gorbul, a veteran of the Krasnodar Drama Theatre, has spent nearly 70 years in the arts, performing close to 200 roles. Goncharova, a ballet instructor, has worked for nearly three decades with the Premiere creative collective at the Musical Theatre's children's studio.
Lapina thanked both for their lifelong dedication to Kuban's cultural life. She wished them good health, continued support, and many more years in their fields. The minister also highlighted the institute's role as a key training centre for the region's cultural sector. Beyond the awards, the *Zemsky Culture Worker* initiative remains a priority. Since its launch, the programme has employed 33 specialists, with another 100 positions set to open this year. Meanwhile, Krasnodar Krai leads the country in participation in the *Pushkin Card* programme, though details on other new cultural initiatives remain limited.
The event celebrated both individual achievements and broader efforts to strengthen the region's cultural workforce. Gorbul and Goncharova's careers now span a combined century of service. With ongoing hiring through the Zemsky Culture Worker initiative, the sector looks to maintain its growth in the years ahead.
